I'm posting about anti-consumerism and my husband posts about spending lots of money to go see the Police. Stay at home, listen to the album, and pretend like you're a member of the band by playing air-instruments with friends. Much cheaper, and probably more entertaining too.

Very valid point, my frugal wife. However, this is not a matter of simple fiscal conservatism, but is so much more than that:

The Police revolutionized the music world in the 80s with their neo-raegae rock style, and a break-up early in their career was a small-scale tragedy, like a micro-burst. Their recent regrouping has been like the Second Coming of Christ, but unfortunately this mythic return will not end in a thousand year reign but most likely in another nasty break-up invovling lots of beer and punches, true to Police form.

And so, this is a delicate thing which must be loved and appreciated while it is here among us. To paraphrase Emily Dickinson, "that it will never come again, is what makes The Police 2008 Tour so sweet".

And so, I pose a question to you: When Jesus comes back and charges only $50 to see him at a state-of-the-art arena, are you going to say, "Nah, I'll just stay home with my Bible and sunday school felt board"....????

I DIDN"T THINK SO!!!

I'm not laughing.

On a related note...does anyone feel like the "word verification" is actually a way for blogger to test your typing skills? I can't tell you how many times I have been unable to log on b/c I didn't type it exactly right...
